VLT stands for visible light transmission and it is the percentage of visible light that is allowed to pass through the window tint film. The lower the VLT percentage, the darker the tint color will be.
For example, a window tint film with a VLT of 5% will be very dark and will block out 95% of visible light, while a film with a VLT of 50% will be much lighter and will allow 50% of visible light to pass through.
When it comes to living areas in the house, it is generally recommended to use a window tint film with a VLT of between 20% and 35%. This allows enough natural light to enter the room while still providing significant heat and glare reduction. A VLT of 20% -35% can help to reduce the heat gain and UV rays in the house, blocking out the sun’s rays and trapping heat inside the home or building.
